The 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has stated that Nigerians would not vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, Nigeria want alternative politics and the PDP is not an option.
Naija News reports that he argued that the opposition party’s decision to zone its presidential ticket to the southern part of the country ahead of the 2027 elections would not work in its favour at the polls.
Speaking during an interview appearance on Channels Television on Wednesday, the SDP chieftain maintained that the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are the same company for now, and Nigerians deserve a new and better direction.
“Besides PDP, we have better options, so it’s not a thing that if the PDP commits suicide, the APC automatically inherits the politics. No.
“What we know is that APC and PDP are like Siamese twins —they are the same company now. They work together. Nigeria wants alternative politics. We’re looking for a new direction. That’s what people are saying,” Adebayo submitted.
Meanwhile, a former National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Fanda Adamu, has likened the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to a headless chicken, insisting that the party is politically lifeless despite recent efforts to reposition itself.
Naija News reports that Adamu made the remark on Wednesday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Politics Today, in reaction to the PDP’s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
The APC chieftain dismissed PDP’s chances in the 2027 general elections, stressing that the opposition party has become a shadow of its former self.
