Spanish La Liga side Sevilla have confirmed that Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has parted ways with the club after both parties agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
In a brief statement, Sevilla said: “An agreement has been reached with Kelechi Iheanacho to rescind his contract. Best of luck for the future, Senior Man.”
The 28-year-old Nigerian forward, nicknamed “Senior Man,” joined Sevilla in the summer on a free transfer from Leicester City. Expectations were high, but Iheanacho struggled to cement a regular spot in the squad, scoring just three goals in a handful of appearances.
Before his move to Spain, Iheanacho enjoyed a successful seven-year stint at Leicester City, where he scored over 61 goals across all competitions and lifted the FA Cup in 2021. His Premier League experience, combined with his international pedigree, made him a highly anticipated signing for Sevilla.
Iheanacho has also been a key figure for Nigeria, earning 58 caps and representing the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
He first rose to prominence at Manchester City, graduating from their academy and winning the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup with Nigeria. He made his senior City debut in 2015 before moving to Leicester in 2017, where he became a consistent Premier League goal-scorer.
Now a free agent, Iheanacho is expected to attract interest from clubs across Europe looking for an experienced striker.
