Liverpool have shaken up the Premier League transfer market after agreeing a British record £130 million deal to sign Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
Alexander Isak, 25, who scored 23 goals in the league last season, second only to Mohamed Salah in the scoring charts, is set to undergo a medical before completing a six-year contract at Anfield. The Athletic and The Telegraph confirmed the deal, which eclipses the previous British record transfer.
Isak’s move comes after weeks of tense negotiations, with the forward having trained separately from Newcastle’s main squad amid clear signs of frustration over the drawn-out saga.
His determination to push through a switch to Merseyside intensified after Newcastle secured German international Nick Woltemade for a reported £69 million on Saturday, widely viewed as the green light for Isak’s exit.

Meanwhile, in another headline-grabbing deadline day development, Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is closing in on a move to Aston Villa.
Talks between the two clubs are progressing, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Sancho decided on Sunday to accept Villa’s proposal after holding out for a club competing in Europe.
The negotiations are not linked to speculation around Emi Martínez, with both sides keen to finalise the Sancho transfer on its own merits.
