Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Cyriel Dessers have joined up with the Super Eagles squad in Uyo as preparations continue for Saturday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
Their arrival brings the number of Super Eagles players in camp to 23, with the team currently lodged at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene.
Among the players who arrived in the camp earlier today are Dessers of Panathinaikos and Lookman of Atalanta. Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Raphael Onyedika, Chrisantus Uche and Osimhen completed the number this afternoon.
The Super Eagles opened camp on Tuesday and will return to the pitch later tonight for another training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. The mood in camp is said to be upbeat as Nigeria looks to kick-start its qualifying campaign on a strong note.
Meanwhile, striker Victor Boniface has resumed training with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen after sealing a deadline-day loan move from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old forward looked lively as he trained with his new teammates for the first time on Wednesday.
Boniface, however, will have to wait until after the international break to make his competitive debut for Bremen. He was left out of Nigeria’s final squad for the doubleheader against Rwanda and South Africa, despite being initially listed in the 31-man provisional roster.
The Super Eagles will be aiming to take maximum points this weekend to put themselves in a strong position on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
