Reality TV star Phyna Otabor has accused the Dangote Group of backing out on its promise to fly her sister, Ruth Otabor, abroad for treatment after she was involved in a cement truck accident in Auchi, Edo State.
Naija News reports that the accident, which happened recently, left Ruth with severe injuries, including the amputation of one leg and damage to several internal organs.
The truck that hit her was later stopped by a bystander after running over her leg.
When company representatives visited the family at the hospital, Phyna requested that her sister be taken to India for medical care.
She said the group initially assured her that the case would be handled with transparency and even suggested that Ruth be transferred to Lagoon Hospital before being flown abroad.
However, Phyna later revealed in an Instagram Live session that communication with the company’s representative had stalled.
According to her, the official now insists that further steps will be guided by medical advice, despite the hospital’s management stating that Ruth cannot be properly treated in Nigeria.
She listed her sister’s conditions, which include fluid in the lungs, a crushed bladder, reproductive organ damage, multiple fractures, colostomy, tracheostomy, blood transfusions, and chest and pelvic injuries.
She added that Ruth has not regained consciousness and is currently on life support.
Phyna alleged that the Dangote Group was trying to avoid responsibility, saying the representative she had been in contact with has stopped responding to her messages.
“After the last message, he has refused to respond to messages. My sister has not woken up for days. Now she’s on life support. She’s on a vent machine, but he did not reply to me again.
“From what I was told by the medical team in Lagoon Hospital, my sister would be in the hospital for a very long time. That’s how badly they crushed her. That’s how bad it is,” she said.
The company has not yet replied to the fresh claims.
