TOPIC: The Dangers Of Ingratitude (Seeds Of Destiny 12 October 2025)

SCRIPTURE: Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. Genesis 13:11-12.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Where your gratitude stops, there your altitude stops.

MESSAGE

Yesterday, we looked at one of the errors of Lot that hindered him from becoming a generational blessing. And it was established that Lot’s tragedy was the tragedy of a man who moved from destiny to becoming history. It was the tragedy of moving from the realm of fame to the realm of shame. Lot was a man who moved from popularity to becoming irrelevant and inconsequential.

Today, we shall be looking at another error of Lot that hindered him from fulfilling destiny, and that is the ATTITUDE OF INGRATITUDE

No one could mention Lot’s name without mentioning Abraham’s name first. The first time God did anything meaningful with Lot was through his connection with Abraham. Yet, Lot did not give God the praise.

You see, there are people God brings into your life that you will have to thank Him forever for linking you up with such people. There is a husband you will marry, and you will thank God for the rest of your life for giving you such a man. There is a wife, pastor or mentor God will give you, and you will thank Him forever for bringing your paths together.

Now, that was how Abraham was in the life of Lot. Abraham was meant to be a permanent point of gratitude from the heart of Lot towards God. But instead, Lot’s herdsmen clashed with Abraham’s herdsmen and that led to their separation.

Many of us may have been victims of situations like this, where you are trying to help someone, but the person is trying to hurt you. A situation where you are attempting to assist someone, but the devil is using the same person to resist you. You are trying to raise someone, and the person is trying to erase you.

However, when people behave like that, they do it to their own detriment. Lot was not thankful; in fact, the only ‘thanks’ he gave to Abraham was causing his herdsmen to clash with Abraham’s.

We live in a world of highly ungrateful generations. Men are taking their wives for granted as if they married slaves. Women on the other hand are also taking their husbands for granted with entitlement mentality as if whatever the man is doing for her is her right.

Now, the challenge is that many people behave like this towards God. When you see the prayer requests of some people, you will never believe that God has ever done anything for them. There is no form of appreciation for previous Divine interventions, provisions and preservation. There are people in a state of permanent quarrel with God. Now, if you quarrel with a fellow man, God will settle it, but if you quarrel with God, who will settle it?

Beloved, note that where your gratitude stops, there your altitude stops. So, if there is anything you are going to deal with in your life, it is the spirit of ingratitude, towards both man and God. The spirit of ingratitude was what wiped Lot out of existence.

To be thankful is to be fruitful. Fruitfulness ends where thankfulness ends. It is appreciation that fertilizes multiplication.

REMEMBER THIS: Where your gratitude stops, there your altitude stops.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

Do everything you can to overcome the spirit of ingratitude.
Put a call across or send a message of appreciation to someone who has assisted you in the past.
Never resist those trying to assist you.

PRAYER: Father, help me to overcome the attitude of ingratitude. I receive the grace to always be thankful, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
