Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has officially announced the signing of Nigerian striker, Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade, who will join the French club on a deal running until 30th June 2027.
Naija News reports that Ajibade, born on 8th December 1999 in Lagos’ Mushin district, began her career in football at just 13 years old with FC Robo Queens of Nigeria’s top-flight league.
It didn’t take long for Ajibade to showcase her talent, earning recognition as one of Africa’s brightest female football prospects.
She was named NFF Young Player of the Year in 2018, a testament to her early impact on the continent’s football scene.
Before making the switch to PSG, Ajibade had an eventful club career across Europe.
She made her move to Atlético de Madrid in 2021 after a productive spell with Avaldsnes IL in Norway, where she played for two years. During the 2024-2025 season, Ajibade made 25 appearances, netting eight goals and providing three assists for the Spanish giants.
Her time at Atlético marked a period of personal and professional growth as she established herself as one of the top strikers in Liga F.
Captain of the Super Falcons
Ajibade’s international journey has been just as stellar. As captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, she has led her country to two Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles (2018, 2024), showcasing her leadership and skill on the continental stage.
She was also a key player for Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and is set to feature prominently at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. With over 30 international caps to her name, Ajibade is now one of the cornerstones of Nigerian football.
Upon completing her move to Paris Saint-Germain, Ajibade expressed her excitement and pride in joining one of Europe’s top clubs.
“I’m deeply honoured to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe. This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and to inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere,” Ajibade said.
Paris Saint-Germain, in turn, has extended a warm welcome to Ajibade, who will be looking to make an immediate impact in France’s top division.
The club expressed their enthusiasm for the signing, stating that they are thrilled to have her join their women’s squad.
