Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his latest trip to Europe for a ‘working vacation’.
Naija News reports that the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement on Thursday, announced that Tinubu departed Abuja on September 4 to begin a 10-day working vacation in Europe as part of his 2025 annual leave.
According to the statement, the president will spend the period between France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria.
Reacting to the development in a post via 𝕏, Amadi said the President and his team were making a case against his re-election.
According to him, the trip demonstrates that the President lacks the stamina for the demands of the presidency.
He wrote, “The president and his team continue to make a strong case why he should not be reelected.
“He has no strength for the hard work required for that office now. He loves, and probably needs, a lot of rest.”
Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised Tinubu for his frequent overseas trips, describing them as insensitive.
While speaking to Punch, the PDP Deputy Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, lamented that taxpayers’ money is being wasted on unnecessary trips.
He asserted that the president’s frequent trips show a lack of faith in the country’s health care system.
