AC Milan have reportedly agreed a £36 million transfer deal, including add-ons, to sign Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.
The 27-year-old is expected to take a pay cut for a five-year contract and has been cleared to travel for a medical.
Chelsea, in a smart financial manoeuvre, included a sell-on clause while also making a league-high estimated £309m from player sales, helping offset UEFA sanctions.
Nkunku leaves Stamford Bridge after scoring 18 goals and providing five assists in 62 matches, contributing to Chelsea’s Club World Cup and Conference League triumphs this year.
In England’s Championship, a surprise move sees Norwich City midfielder Marcelino Nunez heading to bitter rivals Ipswich Town for a £10m fee.
The Chilean, who has 119 appearances for Norwich, underwent a medical on Wednesday and could debut against Derby this weekend.
Norwich are lining up Danish midfielder Pelle Mattsson as his replacement. Nunez, currently sidelined with an ankle injury, had scored in Norwich’s recent EFL Cup win at Watford.
West Ham are stepping up their midfield options, agreeing a deal exceeding £40m for Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes.
The 21-year-old Portugal Under-21 international, who has 46 appearances for the Saints, will undergo a medical in London.
Fernandes becomes West Ham’s third-biggest signing, following Sebastien Haller and Lucas Paqueta. The Hammers are also closing in on Monaco midfielder Soungoutou Magassa for £17.3m.
Crystal Palace are on the move following the departure of Eberechi Eze to Arsenal. The Eagles have agreed in principle to a deal worth up to £26m for Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino.
The 22-year-old winger is expected to complete a medical soon, filling the creative void left by Eze’s £60m exit. Palace are also targeting Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji, with a £15m valuation.
Wolves have turned down Newcastle’s second transfer bid for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Despite a £55m offer, Wolves are keen to retain the Norway international, who scored twice in their EFL Cup win over West Ham.
Manager Vitor Pereira insisted, “Football is football and every player has a price… but for me, it’s very important for us.”
