Wisdom For The Day Devotional 3 October 2025 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – What Are You Hearing?
TOPIC: What Are You Hearing? (TREM Devotional 3 October 2025)
“And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither and buy for us from there; that we may live and not die.” Genesis 42:2 (KJV)
MESSAGE:
Beloved, God’s abundance has always been present, it all depends on what you are hearing. Notice that in Canaan there was famine, but in Egypt there was provision. Jacob’s son Joseph was in charge of the storehouse that would feed the whole world, yet Jacob didn’t know. What preserved Jacob and his family was simply that he heard there was corn in Egypt.
This shows us something profound: in the midst of severe difficulty, there is always an answer somewhere. The key is to put your ear to the mouth of God. If you can hear what He is saying, you will find the way of escape.
Jesus said in Mark 4:9, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” He wasn’t just referring to physical ears, but spiritual ears. Those who train themselves to hear from God hear on a higher level. While the enemy may be speaking fear and despair, you will be hearing faith and direction, because you belong to another realm.
Jacob heard! And his hearing led to his family’s survival. The question is: what are you hearing today? Are you tuned in only to the noise around you, or are you in touch with God’s Word? Even when you read the news or hear reports, let your spirit be tuned to hear God’s voice. Where others see famine, you will hear opportunities.
Where others hear hopelessness, you will hear solutions. And as you respond to what God is saying, your situation will surely turn into a testimony.
