Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has slammed President Bola Tinubu over a remark he made in Brazil about corruption in Nigeria.
Naija News reports that the President met with Brazilian investors on Monday, where he assured them that Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms are delivering tangible results.
During his speech, Tinubu assured the investors that there is “no more corruption” in the country since he took office in 2023.
“It’s getting clearer to the people. We have more money for the economy, and no more corruption”, President Tinubu boasted.
However, the president’s remark has drawn criticism, with many Nigerians countering the claim.
Sharing a video clip from the event on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Sowore accused the president of having “audacity to lie shamelessly”.
He wrote, “This criminal actually went to Brazil to state that there is NO MORE corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly”!
Meanwhile, Sowore has slammed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, over allegations of terror financing.
Naija News reports that Sowore’s outbursts follow the order of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which requires six banks to provide the IGP with details of Sowore’s account and all transactions, including inflows and outflows, from January 2024 to date.
Justice Emeka Nwite gave the order after IGP‘s lawyer, Wisdom Madaki, moved an ex parte motion to the effect.
The IGP, in the motion, informed the court that Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, is being investigated for allegations related to terrorism financing, money laundering, and fraudulent activities.
Reacting to the allegation in a post via 𝕏 on Tuesday, Sowore stated that Egbetokun is using a failed strategy of late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sowore stated that he does not want to meet with the IGP, stressing, “I am not interested in meetings with crooks and criminals.”
He wrote, “The illegal IGP has picked up on the same failed strategy by the now disgraced and extinct Muhammadu Buhari @mbuhari regime because I said I don’t want any private meetings with him, Kayode Egbetokun.
“I am not interested in meetings with crooks and criminals. I can’t be an accessory to their crimes against the Nigerian people, and they won’t learn until this regime, the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT is finally disgraced, too!”
