AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL NIGERIANS: LET US PROTECT OUR NATIONAL PRIDE – AIRPEACE
My dear fellow Nigerians,
I write this not as a distant observer, but as a proud son of the soil, a patriotic Nigerian who has travelled the length and breadth of our great country and beyond, and as a loyal, satisfied customer of Airpeace Airlines for many years.
My name is Michael Onuoha , and I have flown Airpeace on countless domestic and regional routes. Every single time, I have returned home with nothing but gratitude, comfort, and an even deeper love for what this airline represents. It is from this place of genuine experience and unshakeable patriotism that I appeal to those who have taken it upon themselves to criticise, malign, and demarket Airpeace: enough is enough.
Airpeace is not just another airline. Airpeace is Nigeria’s pride. It is the shining emblem of what we, as people, can achieve when we put our minds, our resources, and our determination to work.
In a nation where many have grown accustomed to looking outside for excellence, Airpeace has boldly declared that excellence can – and does – come from within.
It has done more for Nigeria and Nigerians than any other Nigerian airline in history. From the moment it took to our skies, Airpeace has consistently prioritised safety and comfort above everything else. Its fleet is modern, its crew professional, its maintenance standards world-class, and its on-time performance, a model for others. While others have faltered, Airpeace has risen, expanding routes, creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs, and giving our young aviators and engineers the opportunity to grow in their own country.

Yet, instead of celebrating this home-grown success, some among us have chosen the unfortunate culture of demarketing – pulling down what is ours simply because it is ours. This must stop. Nigerians must desist from this self-defeating habit. How can we build a great nation if we are the first to tear down our own institutions the moment they begin to soar? Airpeace has not claimed perfection, but it has shown commitment, resilience, and a clear vision. It has connected our cities when others could not. It has flown routes that were once considered unviable. It has put Nigerian pilots, cabin crew, and ground staff in the spotlight, proving to the world that we have the talent and the capacity. These are not small achievements. These are monumental contributions to our national development.
I appeal to every critic, every social media commentator, and every opinion leader: pause and reflect. Before you type that next negative post, ask yourself – what has Airpeace done to deserve this? Has it not carried our mothers, fathers, children, and business people safely across the nation? Has it not stood as a symbol of hope when many international carriers shied away from our market? Has it not invested heavily in local content, training, and infrastructure? The answer is a resounding yes. Airpeace has earned the right to be protected at all costs. It is our collective property. It is our flag carrier in spirit, even if not yet in name. To attack it is to attack the Nigerian dream itself.
My brothers and sisters, let us change the narrative. Let us become the loudest voices of support for what is good and what is ours. Airpeace has the potential – and I believe the destiny – to do even better. It can become the true Pride of Africa, serving not only Nigerians but all Africans with the same excellence, warmth, and reliability it has shown at home. Imagine an airline that connects Lagos to Nairobi, Abuja to Accra, Port Harcourt to Johannesburg, not as a foreign entity, but as an African success story proudly flying the green-white-green in its heart. Airpeace is already on this path. With our support, with our patronage, with our positive words, it will get there faster and stronger. It will restore dignity to African aviation. It will show the world that Africa can compete and win on the global stage.
As a loyal customer, I have experienced the difference firsthand. The courteous smiles of the crew, the clean and comfortable cabins, the delicious meals that remind me of home, the smooth take-offs and landings, and most importantly, the peace of mind that comes from knowing my safety is their top priority. I have flown Airpeace through turbulent times and calm skies alike, and I have never been disappointed. This is not blind loyalty; this is earned trust. This is the testimony of millions of Nigerians who have chosen Airpeace and found it worthy.
To every Nigerian reading this: let us rally behind Airpeace. Let us protect it as fiercely as we protect our sovereignty. Let us speak well of it, fly it, recommend it, and defend it. Let the culture of demarketing die a natural death in our land. Let the culture of building, supporting, and celebrating home-grown success take its place. Airpeace is more than an airline – it is a movement. It is proof that Nigeria is rising. It is our pride today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
Long live Airpeace!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Long live the Pride of Africa!
Yours in patriotism and unwavering support,
Chief Michael Onuoha
