Manchester United have ruled out any possibility of sacking their Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, after defender, Lisandro Martinez made his feelings about him clear earlier this week.
Manchester United’s senior players reportedly agree with Martinez following the Argentine’s explosive post-match interview after the Red Devils’ 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
The 34-year-old criticised Manchester United’s lack of investment during the summer transfer window, singling out Wilcox for criticism.
However, according to The Times, while some senior Manchester United players share Martinez’s frustration over the club’s lack of transfer activity during the summer, minority co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who attended the game in Madrid, holds Wilcox in high regard.
The report states that Wilcox’s position is not under threat, despite the reported sentiment among first-team players.
