Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday evening, paid a courtesy visit to former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, at his Abuja residence.
Naija News reports that the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shared brief details of the meeting on his official š handle on Monday morning.
Atiku wrote: āYesterday evening, I paid a courtesy visit to the former Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Attahiru Bafarawa, at his residence in Abuja. Iām happy to have met him in such a hospitable condition and to have had quality discussions with him.ā
Strategic Moves Ahead of 2027
Though Atiku did not mention if his recent meeting with Bafarawa was on a political matter, Naija News reports that the former vice president, who was PDP presidential flagbearer in the 2019 and 2023 elections, has in recent months intensified consultations with political allies and stakeholders across the country as preparations build up for the 2027 general elections.
Atiku recently hosted key PDP leaders in Abuja and held separate meetings with influential northern political figures, including former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and some members of the PDP Board of Trustees.
He also engaged in talks with political groups in the South-West and South-East, where he emphasised the need for a united opposition capable of mounting a strong challenge against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Atiku has consistently called for internal party cohesion and broader alliances, warning that a fragmented opposition would only strengthen the APCās hold on power.
