The outgone Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), on Wednesday night performed his last official duty before exiting office, marking the end of his six-month stewardship.
At the Government House, Port Harcourt, Ibas inaugurated Dr Irringi Brown as the substantive Head of Service, his final act as administrator.
He later addressed the people of Rivers in a statewide broadcast, where he reviewed his tenure and urged support for the reinstated governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
According to The Nation, Ibas was dressed in a blue kaftan and his trademark glasses, as he stepped out of his office with a calm but confident demeanour.
Flanked by senior security aides drawn from the armed forces, some carrying files, the retired naval chief walked slowly towards the entrance doors of the Government House.
With his hands in his pockets, Ibas raised his outfit slightly, took a long glance at the surroundings, smiled faintly, and proceeded to his waiting Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
One of his security aides quickly opened the door, and Ibas made an enthusiastic leap into the vehicle before signalling his motorcade to move.
His convoy, headlights gleaming, rolled gently towards the first gate of the Government House. As the gate swung open, the vehicles disappeared into the midnight darkness.
