Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has opened up about her current stay in Canada, where she is carrying out omugwo duties for her daughter Priscilla Ojo-Mkambala, who recently welcomed a baby boy.
Naija News reports that in a video on Instagram, Iyabo said she misses Nigeria and is eagerly waiting for the omugwo period to end so she can return home.
She described how caring for her grandson Rakim has completely changed her daily routine, leaving her with little time for herself.
According to her, feeding the baby every hour and resting afterwards makes her lose track of time, often waking up at midnight.
The actress, who playfully called herself the “youngest grandma,” also joked about missing her black bonnet, a piece she often wears during Instagram live sessions whenever she wants to address issues or call people out.
Iyabo further revealed that she will be traveling to Tanzania soon to escort her grandson, as the family plans to hold a party there in his honor.
She promised that once she returns to Nigeria, she will resume her outspoken side that fans have always known her for.
She said: “Peaceful child. But he eats too much. Every one hour. I miss Nigeria. Can’t wait to be done with omugwo. When do I wake up in the morning? You guys are already in the afternoon. By the time we are done taking care of Rakim, you guys are already in the evening. And when I’m done, I want to rest. By the time I wake up, it’s already midnight.
“Funke Akindele, you have not worn omugwo clothe. I’m the youngest grandma. I’m going to Tanzania. I’m going to escort, I’m going to escort my grandson to Tanzania. Because Tanzania is where we are going to have the party.
“I miss my violent days. When I return to Nigeria, we will resume. I don’t know where Priscilla kept my black bonnet.”
