Political analyst and founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Udenta Udenta, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a fragile edifice that cannot withstand the pressures of Nigeria’s political future.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Tuesday, Udenta said, “This is a structure of darkness. This is a structure that will collapse on its own.”
He accused the APC of weaponising state institutions to entrench its dominance. He warned that the 2027 general election could become a watershed moment if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to contest.
“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests that election,” he cautioned.
Udenta alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has effectively become an extension of the APC’s political machinery.
“INEC has become a weapon in the hands of APC, used to legitimise electoral robbery and violence,” he said, further claiming that the judiciary has also been compromised.
The analyst insisted that APC’s hold on power could only be broken if opposition parties forge unity before the 2027 polls.
“If PDP and Labour Party do not come together, APC will destroy this country beyond recognition,” Udenta warned, stressing that a fragmented opposition only strengthens the ruling party.
Udenta described APC’s governance as catastrophic for Nigeria’s democratic and socio-economic health.
“What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion and collapse legitimacy,” he declared.
He maintained that Nigerians were yearning for change and would decisively reject the APC at the ballot if credible alternatives emerged.
Udenta said, “This country cannot continue like this. The people are waiting, the people are watching, the people are suffering.”
He added that the coming election would determine Nigeria’s survival.
“2027 is not just another election. It is the soul of the country that will be contested,” he declared.
