Paris Saint-Germain could be without their Georgian forward, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia when they face Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Kvaratskhelia trained away from the main group on Tuesday after picking up a knock in the champions’ 2-0 win over Lens at the weekend.
Although the 24-year-old was not mentioned in PSG’s official medical bulletin, a source close to the squad suggested his involvement cannot be ruled out, according to All Football.
The club’s sporting advisor, Luis Campos, had earlier expressed his “optimism” about Kvaratskhelia featuring against the Serie A side.
PSG are already dealing with a growing injury list. Ousmane Dembele, considered by many as a frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or, and teenage star Desire Doue remain sidelined as they continue their recovery from injuries sustained while on international duty with France.
Lucas Beraldo is also still out after spraining his ankle in the win over Lens.
One bright spot for the Parisians is that South Korean forward Lee Kang-in trained on Tuesday without showing signs of discomfort, despite limping off at the weekend.
As PSG prepare for their title defence, Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has weighed in on who he believes are the leading contenders for Europe’s top prize this season.
Writing in his Champions League column for Sky, the former Germany captain highlighted seven clubs with a realistic shot at lifting the trophy.
“For me, Bayern is one of the six best teams in Europe and among the teams that can win the title,” Matthaus said, as quoted by GOAL.
“These include defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City and, to a lesser extent, Arsenal.”
