The Lagos State Police Command has cleared the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, of any wrongdoing following the circulation of a viral video showing him holding what appeared to be a firearm.
Naija News reports that the command, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that Pastor Adefarasin voluntarily presented himself at the state police headquarters in Ikeja for questioning.
“After a thorough investigation, including interrogation and a cautionary statement from Pastor Adefarasin, it was established that the object in question was a stun gun and not a lethal weapon or firearm,” the statement said.
Following its findings, the police declared that there were no grounds for further action against the cleric.
“Consequent to our findings, the Lagos State Police Command has determined that there are no sufficient grounds to proceed with the matter. The case is hereby discontinued,” Adebisi stated.
Naija News reports that the command reassured Lagos residents of its commitment to transparency, the rule of law, and public safety.
It added that it would continue to ensure that incidents of this nature are investigated diligently to forestall misinformation and undue panic among the public.
At the time of filing this report, Pastor Adefarasin is yet to react to the outcome of the investigation.
