Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has reacted to the constant flooding in Lagos, blaming it on the way residents dispose of refuse.
Naija News reports that the actor, in a video posted on Instagram said most of the problems are caused by people throwing waste into gutters and blocking drainage channels.
He recalled seeing similar acts in Maryland, where residents were dumping trash into gutters.
Balogun said that the actions of residents make flooding worse and insisted that people are partly responsible for the damage they complain about.
He said: “We are the government, and we are the ones doing this to ourselves.
“Because they dumped refuse into the gutter, look at Ikorodu road, people have blocked the gutter. We even saw some people at Maryland but we couldn’t record it. Throwing dustbins into the gutter blocks the drainage.”
In other news, Afrobeats star Folarin Odunlami, popularly known as Fola, has shared the difficult experience he faced when he first arrived in Lagos to chase his music career.
Naija News reports that the artist revealed that on the very day he relocated to the city in 2018, he was arrested and had to spend the night at a police station.
