Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen, is on the verge of sealing a move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg following the expiration of his contract with Manchester United in the summer.
Naija News reports that Eriksen, 33, had attracted interest from several clubs after leaving Old Trafford but turned down an offer to join Championship side Wrexham.
Just 10 days after the summer transfer window closed, he has now agreed personal terms with Wolfsburg, according to Tipsbladet.
The midfielder reportedly flew from Odense to Braunschweig to finalise discussions with the German club, with a medical expected to be the final hurdle before the deal is confirmed.
The move will see Eriksen link up with fellow Dane Peter Christiansen, Wolfsburg’s managing director for sport, who took up the role in 2024.
Eriksen, who has 130 caps for Denmark, is expected to bring experience and creativity to the Wolfsburg midfield as the club pushes for a stronger campaign in the Bundesliga.
Eriksen joined Manchester United from Brentford in July 2022 and made over 70 appearances for the Red Devils, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023.
Before his Premier League spell, he enjoyed success with Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan, where he won the Serie A title in 2021.
The midfielder’s career was dramatically halted during Euro 2020 when he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch, but he made a remarkable recovery, returning to professional football just months later.
