The former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Datti Baba-Ahmed, has stated that ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is one of the people he can consider working with in the 2027 election.
Naija News reports that Baba-Ahmed made this known on Friday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, during discussions on the coalition formed on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The Kaduna-born politician said he would consider working with Amaechi, aside from the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, for the 2027 general election, describing him as a ‘good guy’.
He said, “Rotimi Amaechi is a good guy. He is one of those I can adopt.”
Meanwhile, Datti-Ahmed has dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition under the platform of the ADC, saying the alliance is ‘deceiving Nigerians’ with promises to rescue the country from underdevelopment.
“They are deceiving us,” Baba-Ahmed declared while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Friday.
Baba-Ahmed, who ran alongside Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, said his loyalty to the former Anambra governor remained firm and expressed readiness to serve as his running mate again in 2027.
The former LP vice-presidential candidate insisted Obi should remain in the Labour Party and fly its flag in the next general election, despite Obi’s open engagements with members of the ADC coalition such as David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir el-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola.
