Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has visited the erstwhile Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, at his Abuja residence.
The visit comes after Tambuwal was released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Naija News reports that Tambuwal, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, was detained by the EFCC over alleged financial impropriety during his tenure as Sokoto governor.
Speaking via a post on X, Atiku expressed relief over Tambuwal’s well-being.
He wrote, “I visited Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at his residence in Abuja earlier today. I am happy seeing him in good, unbroken, and unwavering spirit.”
Meanwhile, Tambuwal has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would have made a better president than Bola Tinubu.
Naija News reports that the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, said Tinubu does not understand how the system works.
According to him, Tinubu has always been confined to the locality in Lagos and has never been a federal operator, unlike Atiku, who understands the dynamics of running the government.
Tambuwal lamented that since Tinubu assumed office, he has been unable to appoint ambassadors for Nigeria.
He said, “Atiku is better at getting the job done than Tinubu. Atiku is better in many ways, in understanding the dynamics of running the government.
“Tinubu has always been confined to locality in Lagos and has never been a federal operator, he does not understand the system.
“Look at it up till now we don’t have ambassadors, two years and almost three months into the administration, what does that tell you.”
