Renowned British actor, Idris Elba, has described Lagos as ‘the World’s most amazing city’, recalling fond memories of his time in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
Naija News reports that Elba made the remarks while speaking on the red carpet at the TIFF Tribute Awards in an interview with eTalk TV.
“There are so many memories. Lagos, if you have never been there, is the most amazing place, city in the world. I had a great time. The talent there is incredible,” he said.
The award-winning actor also reflected on one of his standout experiences, seeing British singer, Seal (Henry Olusegun Samuel), step into an acting role while embracing his Nigerian heritage.
“I got to have Seal acting. He has acted before but this is one he is acting in his accent. You know, his Nigerian heritage. That was a real blessing,” Elba noted.
Elba revealed that a key moment came during a music performance connected to the project.
“One of the big standout moments is there is this really amazing song that we wrote for the film and they performed it at the end of the song. Seal and a lovely artiste called Konstance,” he said.
The Hollywood star has long expressed admiration for African creativity and has consistently highlighted Nigeria’s growing influence on the global stage.
