Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has again cautioned truck operators against the unauthorised use of its logo, warning that the practice has caused reputational damage and unwarranted embarrassment to the brand.
The company lamented that despite repeated notices, some truckers with no affiliation to Dangote continue to brand their vehicles with its logo for personal or undisclosed motives.
In several cases, vehicles falsely identified as belonging to Dangote have been implicated in accidents and criminal activities.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company warned.
Naija News reports that Dangote also expressed concern over the spread of misinformation, particularly media reports that automatically link road accidents to its fleet.
The conglomerate urged both the public and journalists to fact-check before publication, describing attempts to exploit tragic incidents for “malicious or financial gain” as unacceptable.
As one of Africa’s largest operators of commercial trucks, Dangote disclosed that it runs more than 12,000 vehicles in Nigeria, with over 3,000 managed by third-party contractors.
On a daily basis, the company deploys more than 6,000 trucks to sustain its logistics operations, directly and indirectly creating over 36,000 jobs nationwide.
To ensure accountability, Dangote said it maintains close partnerships with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulatory agencies to monitor and improve operational standards.
“We maintain close cooperation with the FRSC and other regulatory bodies to standardise, monitor, train, and enhance our operational practices. Continuous internal audits enable us to identify gaps, adopt global best practices, and strengthen compliance across our fleet,” the company said.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance, Dangote vowed to step up monitoring efforts in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and pursue legal remedies against offenders.
