A member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has berated the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Dumebi Kachikwu, over his consistent outburst about the leadership of the opposition coalition.
Naija News reports that Momodu while fielding questions in an interview on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’ programme told Kachikwu not to kill the ADC.
According to Dele Momodu, being a former presidential candidate of a party does not make an individual a sole owner of the party.
The veteran journalist questioned Kachikwu’s entitlemnt of the party, adding that the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, does not claim any party despite his experience in politics.
He said, “Kachikwu happens to be my very dear brother. I reached out to his office to speak to him and he gave me his reasons why he’s fighting.
“I just want to make one correction. Being a former presidential candidate does not make you the sole owner of a party. I was a presidential candidate in 2011 on the platform of the National Conscience Party, which was co-founded by great lawyer Gani Fawehinmi.
“Even Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is one of the greatest politicians today, cannot claim ownership of the NNPP. Even Atiku Abubakar, who is probably the most experienced politician today, does not say he’s the owner of any party.
“I don’t know where this new sense of entitlement comes from, where Nigerian politicians would say they would agree, they are the founders of the party.
“Some people founded PDP but today they have lost control of the party. That’s the truth.
“So with all due respect to my brother Kachikwu, don’t let anybody use your head to break coconut. It is not necessary. Don’t kill this beautiful baby (ADC). It’s a new baby. And you should be happy that some people are taking your party beyond where it was.”
