The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has reaffirmed its commitment to closer collaboration with the Federal Fire Service (FFS) to improve firefighting and emergency response across the nation’s capital.
Naija News reports that this assurance came during a courtesy visit to the Controller General of the FFS, Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, at the Service Headquarters in Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
Leading the delegation, the Director of the FCT Fire Service, Engr. Zaccheaus Adebayo, congratulated the Controller General on his recent appointment and pledged full support for his leadership.
Adebayo stressed that the service believes in stronger ties between both agencies, especially in training, capacity building, access to modern infrastructure, inter-agency support, and skill development for our officers.
Responding, Controller General Olumode commended the delegation and assured them of the Federal Fire Service’s readiness to provide the necessary interventions to boost infrastructure and firefighting capacity in the FCT.
He disclosed that the FFS is set for transformative reforms, including a review of the Federal Fire Service Act by December 2025.
Olumode stated that the Service will not only focus on firefighting but will also expand its mandate to cover broader rescue operations and emergency management services across the country.
In a statement issued by the National PRO and Head of Corporate Services at the FFS National Headquarters, DCF P.O. Abraham, the Controller General stressed that stronger collaboration remains key to advancing fire safety and emergency response in Nigeria.
He pledged that the Federal Fire Service would continue to welcome joint initiatives with the FCT Fire Service and other stakeholders aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
